Bill Gates has offered $44.6 Billion to buy Yahoo! Isnt that $20 billion too much? How'll 360 and YA change?
Damn...I hope Yahoo doesn't do this. I know that's a lot of money..but I have seperate accounts for a reason..I don't want to have to combine accounts, be on msn.com under their banner all of the time.
This could effect myspace, this could effect Google, this could effect facebook.....and so many other sites.
What Gates and co. would do with Yahoo is take the best parts of yahoo and then strip away the worst of it...and put most of it into one super site designed to bankrupt sites like myspace, google, facebook, photobucket.......
They'd probably keep 360, Yahoo Answers, Yahoo Groups and the yahoo search engine...since they are better than msn's version of it. However, the site/email would all fall under their name...their banner. They probably will either revamp or get rid of Yahoo personals, and probably would keep yahoo maps.
There is no way that Gates and microsoft buy out Yahoo and not merge the two sites though...it might not happen at first..but eventually...you'll be made to either get an msn/hotmail email address, or cancel your account and move to google if you want free web based email.
Yahoo would be better served to sell out to a competitor than give in to Bill Gates. If yahoo must sell..then give a couple of other groups a chance to buy in......
NBC Universal or CBS/Viacom or Mark Cuban or the Stienbrenners or Disney or Apple/Macintosh would be viable companies that could take on adding Yahoo to it's brand and keep yahoo being yahoo and not just a partial tool for msn to globally dominate everything on the net.

The deal has been questioned and may ultimately fall through....I hope so....because Gates was planning to do away with most of the Yahoo attributes and totally redesign it....causing everyone to have to lose their accounts and basically start over for a small yearly fee....It sucks and I hope it falls through....
Yahoo has become the Woolworth of the Internet....cheap cheap cheap. I see Yahoo as a used snake oil salesmen.
