Google works by matching search terms to terms in documnets on the web. anyone who puts your name on a webpage-in a forum, article, any myspace page, blog post etc, has the potential to show up in the google results.

If you have a very common name it would be difficult to find such documnets, but if its uncommon, or combined with basic info such as your cities name, other can find lots of info about you.

Google doesn't care where the source is - if it finds a matching web page that relates to the search term, then it'll show it.
